Current Events in Science

For this task students will play the role of a journalist researching and presenting a recent discovery in science. Students are asked to research current events in science and critique and challenge the evidence and arguments of the discovery in order to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge. In the role of a journalist, students have a unique responsibility to communicate important facts about the discovery in a way that is engaging and appeals to audience members.

Note: The student task prompt inquires as to if students know someone who has experienced cancer, blindness, or required an organ transplant. Please present this information in such a way to be considerate of students who may be sensitive to these issues.
