SCALE Checklist for Quality Rubric Design

The Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE) has developed a updated quality checklist for rubric quality.  This checklist was designed to guide educators who are developing and using rubrics as part of performance assessments.  

This updated version of the tool assists rubric writers with creating a quality rubric through the evaluation of five criterion:

• Purpose - Learning-centered Design
• Content
• Structure & organization
• Performance levels
• Language
