May the FORCE be with you!

The goal of this one week first grade module is to have students create an informational science board in which they explain how objects are affected by pushes and pulls. The students will create one science board. The science board will be folded to mirror an actual science board used for science fair or science experiments. The front of the science board will have the title, pushes and pulls and pictures of objects that can be pushed or pulled(drawn by students). On the inside left flap of the science board, the students will define what a push is and what a pull is and draw pictures to show their understanding of a push and a pull. On the inside right flap of the science board, the students will draw their push and pull experiment and explain the conclusion of their experiment (what happened when they pushed and then pulled the object through the maze that the students created). The center section of the science board is where students will complete their written response question, "what affect does a push and a pull have on an object?" Students will close read three informational texts and complete two experiments, one on pushes and one on pulls and complete an experiment board.

The focus standards for this module are R1.3, W1.2, and SC.1. P.13.1.
