In this LDC Module, students will be able to identify whether the properties of the sun are beneficial or harmful to living things on Earth. For the student's final written task, students and teachers will use the task template rubric, to write a paragraph detailing the beneficial and harmful properties of the sun. Students will also develop an idea of how to protect themselves from the harmful effects of the sun based on their research. Students have already learned the writing process of how to plan and write a paragraph that includes a topic sentence, three supporting details, and a closing sentence (hamburger model). As for reading skills, we have briefly touched on main idea and details. As for grammar, students will need basic instruction on conventions (upper and lowercase letters, punctuation marks, and spelling of most sight words). Before beginning this module, the teacher will read the whole story out loud to the class.
